As we begin Term 2, I would like to warmly welcome all students, staff and families back to 桃子视频. We hope everyone had the opportunity to rest and recharge over the break and are looking forward to another productive and engaging term ahead.
We also warmly welcome a number of new staff members joining our community or commencing a new role with us this term: Michelle Miles (Student Services and Administration), Jen Chenoweth (Excursions Officer), Linda Ferguson (Middle School Administration), Amanda Morgan (Junior School Administration), Seb Salamone (Grounds), Mark Stephenson (Science Laboratory Manager), and Zac Becker (Youth Worker). We are excited to have them join the 桃子视频 community and wish them all the very best in their new roles.
During the break, a range of grounds and facilities improvements were completed across the school. These included frosting on windows in the 700 block, Technology and Administration buildings, refurbishment of the Arts Office, painting of doors and trims in the Gymnasium and Arts Foyer, line marking on the ovals, new red boundary lines in the Junior School, new soccer goal nets and a back net on the Hockey pitch, installation of Year 9 lockers, aerating of the oval, and a range of general housekeeping works. The resurfacing of the courts is also in it鈥檚 final days. Thank you to all staff involved in preparing the site for the busy term ahead.
This term, students in Years 4鈥12 will participate in the Wellbeing and Engagement Collection (WEC) survey. The survey provides valuable feedback about students鈥 experiences at school, including their sense of wellbeing, engagement and connectedness, and helps inform future planning and improvement priorities across our site. A letter with further information was emailed home to families last week. We encourage students to provide thoughtful and honest feedback as we continue working together to support positive outcomes for all learners.

International Program
Over the past few weeks, our international students have embraced an incredible journey of connection, culture, community and adventure鈥攃reating memories that will last a lifetime.
From celebrating milestones and experiencing iconic Aussie traditions to exploring some of South Australia鈥檚 most remarkable destinations, the past three weeks have been packed with unforgettable moments.
The Year 12 Formal brought a night of elegance, laughter and friendship, with our international students shining brightly as they celebrated alongside their peers. They also embraced school spirit at Sports Day, bringing colour, determination and enthusiasm to both the track and dance floor, while sharing their voices and stories during our Harmony Day celebrations, enriching our school community through culture and connection.
A visit to Urimbirra Wildlife Park gave students the chance to get up close with Australia鈥檚 unique wildlife鈥攌angaroos, koalas and emus included鈥攚hile a helicopter visit became a thrilling highlight, particularly for some of our Brazilian students experiencing this aviation marvel up close for the very first time.
Adding to the adventure, 38 international students embarked on an unforgettable camp through South Australia鈥檚 south-east, exploring some of the state鈥檚 most iconic destinations. From the excitement of The Bend to the natural beauty of Naracoorte Caves National Park, students immersed themselves in history, nature and discovery. Highlights included the breathtaking Umpherston Sinkhole, the stunning Blue Lake and Mini Blue Lake in Mount Gambier, a classic fish 鈥檔鈥 chips lunch, and a step back in time at the historic 1863 Glencoe Woolshed.

Their experiences are a reminder of the power of cultural exchange and the friendships formed through shared experiences. We are so lucky to have these students as part of our 桃子视频 family
Sport
Fletcher Cup
Back in March 桃子视频 took six volleyball teams and two soccer teams to Roma Mitchell College to participate in the inaugural Fletcher Cup!
In volleyball, HCS was competitive in Division 1, the girls winning with excellent passing and attacking and our Year 9 boys fighting hard against Roma Mitchells Year 10 team!
Our Year 8 teams battled it out in Division 2. Our boys missed an overall win with a close two point loss and our girls showed plenty of enthusiasm and positivity from start to finish (we think they were probably the loudest team on the day!)
Both soccer teams battled hard against quality opposition. The day was a great learning opportunity with plenty of opportunities to defend and adapt.
Well done to everyone who turned up, gave it their all and represented our school.
Fleurieu Cup
A couple of weeks ago, 桃子视频 took seven Year 9/10 teams to Reynella East to participate in the Fleurieu Cup Volleyball challenge
Teams were spread across two divisions with a variety of schools from across the southern areas displaying great athleticism and skill. The volleyball standard just keeps improving year by year.
The Year 10 Boys team won the Division 1 competition being undefeated for the day. Excellent jump serving, hitting variation and teamwork made them very hard to beat.
The Year 9/10 Girls got off to a slow start, losing their first game by one point but after warming up, they played improved and more consistent Volleyball and did not lose another match, coming second overall.
The Year 9/10 Boys team won the Division 2 competition also going undefeated for the day. The team bonded really well with individuals demonstrating solid skills and the ability to deal will out of system plays in longer rallies.
The Year 8/9 Girls (with 5 of the team being only Year 8s!) won the Girls Division 2 competition only losing one game for the day (against year 10 Boys from Underdale)!
The Year 9 Girls came second overall pushing all teams and winning some close matches. Improved hitting and court movement was pleasing.
Thank you to Mr. Kenny, Ms. Brown and Esme for giving up their time and to the Year 8 Girls who filled in and played against older opposition.
Mountain biking Championships
What an incredible effort from our HCS Mountain Bike team at the recent championships!
Competing against more than 950 riders across two days of competition, our students represented the school with resilience, courage and determination every step of the way.
Boys 7/8 teams placed 7th and 29th out of 85 teams
Boys 9/10 team placed 13th out of 50 teams
We are so proud of the way our students challenged themselves, supported one another and showcased outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event. Congratulations to all riders on a fantastic achievement!

Huge congratulations to HCS student Jaidee-Lee on an outstanding performance representing South Australia in the 2026 Marsh AFLW National Development Championships
Taking on Western Australia, Jaidee-Lee played a key role in SA鈥檚 thrilling five-point win. As part of the leadership group, she showed composure and class, highlighted by a superb 35m goal in the second quarter that helped keep SA in the contest heading into half time.
Jaidee-Lee was also named among the best players on the ground, delivering a strong all-round performance in what was a fantastic team effort from the Croweaters
South Australia secured the win 37 to 32, kicking off their championship campaign in style.
We鈥檙e incredibly proud to see Jaidee-Lee excelling on the big stage and representing both her state and our school with such determination and skill. We can鈥檛 wait to see what she does next!

Kiss and Drop Areas
When dropping off/picking up your child(ren), please remember that the middle lane (Gledsdale Road Kiss and Drop) and right lane (Sanderson Road Kiss and Drop) should not be used as a waiting/parking lane.
