It has been another positive and productive period of learning across 桃子视频. Classrooms continue to be busy places where students are engaging with new ideas, developing their skills, and supporting one another to learn and grow. Our staff remain deeply committed to creating learning environments where every student feels supported and challenged to do their best.
Junior School Learning听
In Week 5, Ms E modelled a whiteboard routine designed to strengthen spelling fluency and support our Year 1 and 2 students and to inspire their teachers with new techniques.
They then moved into a paired reading fluency routine, where students practised with decodable texts 鈥 focusing on accuracy, appropriate pace and expressive reading.
It鈥檚 always exciting to see practical strategies in action that make a real difference for our learners!
After School Maths Support is back up and running!
Several students have taken the opportunity to get a little extra support before their assessment piece!
After School Maths Support will run from 3:10pm to 4:00pm Wednesday afternoons in room 804 from Weeks 2-9 this term
Our talented Year 8 Creative Arts students have been busy exploring a range of exciting techniques 鈥 from 2D printing and painting to pastel and ink abstract art, as well as 3D clay modelling.
Throughout the term, students have embraced colour, experimented with different materials, and expressed our school values through their creative ideas and personal style.
We are proud to showcase their incredible work at our upcoming Open Night, with further exhibitions planned throughout the year. We can鈥檛 wait to share their creativity with our community!
In Week 5 we were honoured to welcome the Governor of South Australia to meet with our High School Student Leadership Council.
Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson took the time to speak with our student leaders about their leadership journeys, the challenges they鈥檝e embraced, and the difference they hope to make in our community. She also generously shared insights and advice drawn from her own remarkable career in public service.
An inspiring and memorable experience for our young leaders as they continue to grow in confidence, courage and service.
e were also proud to officially recognise our 2026 Student Representative Council and Area Ambassadors
These student leaders have stepped forward to represent their peers, strengthen student voice, and model our school values across every area of campus.
We look forward to the energy, ideas and leadership they will bring to 2026 鈥 congratulations to you all!
Miss Georgia’s Year 1 class had a go at some amazing science!
Our 鈥淩aincloud in a Jar鈥 experiment is a simple (and magical!) way to show how rain works.
We filled a jar with water (this is our atmosphere), then added a fluffy layer of shaving cream on top to act as the cloud. Using droppers, we carefully added coloured water onto the 鈥渃loud.鈥
As the cloud filled up, it became heavier and heavier 鈥 just like real clouds do when water droplets build up inside them. When it couldn鈥檛 hold any more, the coloured water fell through into the jar鈥 just like rain!
Big kids inspiring little scientists!
There was even more science when our High School students recently stepped into the role of teachers, running hands-on science experiments for our Junior School classes. From bubbling reactions to exciting discoveries, our younger students loved learning from their older peers.
One of the many benefits of being an R鈥12 school is the opportunity for students to learn from and inspire one another, building connections across year levels and sparking curiosity along the way.
Sports Day 2026
GO COOPER
Ms Fletcher’s Year 10 Food and Hospitality class completed their final cook this week for their ‘Convenient Foods’ unit.
Students have been learning about how foods and ingredients have changed over time to make life easier from frozen meals to pre-packaged ingredients.
For their final task, students were challenged to design and create their very own convenient microwave meal! This included developing a recipe, cooking the dish, and even designing an eye-catching package ready for supermarket shelves!
A fantastic way to finish the unit and showcase the students creativity and practical skills
Junior School choir recently hosted a combined choir rehearsal with other local primary schools for the primary schools Festival of Music
Guest conductor Robyn Filmer led the combined choir with energetic vocal warm ups and conducted our song repertoire. We loved the opportunity to make a big sound as we explored our lyrics and part singing!
The choir is very excited for our weekly practice with Mr Martin as we get ready for the Primary Schools Festival of Music show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in September.
Our Year 6 students had an incredible time at camp a few weeks ago at Woodhouse Adventure Park!
From outdoor challenges to team activities and plenty of laughs along the way, it was the perfect way to kick off their final year of Junior School. A fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, strengthen friendships and create memories that will last well beyond Year 6.
The Ice Factor Program is back for 2026!
The Hallett cove Huskies are training hard for their interschool competition in Week 10!
Plenty of skill development, peer coaching, resilience building and a stack of fun (sometimes literally!)
Our Year 10 Hair and Beauty class have begun their hair colouring unit.
After learning the theory behind hair colouring, they got to practice the application on each other with conditioner. After a few more practices, they will be able to mix and colour each other鈥檚 hair!
Sneak Peak: Over the next few weeks our High School courts will be getting a much needed facelift!
Keep your eyes out for more updates!
Year 8 Elections
Our Year 8 students have spent the last few weeks learning about how political parties are made and run and how to campaign for change within the school.
They had the opportunity to create their own parties and hold an election, where fellow Year 8s and staff cast their vote for the party who they believed could lead a positive change to our school community!
Results are still pending!
Our International Students have had an action packed start to the term! From diving into their specialist lessons to exploring some of Adelaide鈥檚 best experiences, they鈥檝e been making the most of every opportunity
Highlights from the past few weeks include:
– Catching waves during their surfing lesson
– Meeting new friends at the Welcome Event
– Discovering marine life while snorkelling
– Tasting fresh flavours at the Central Market
– Building connections through peer tutoring
– Meeting high achieving Australians
It鈥檚 been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they learn, explore, and settle into life here. Here鈥檚 to many more adventures ahead!
In Week 5 桃子视频 took eight teams from the Volleyball program to participate in the Southern Schools Year 9/10 Beach Volleyball tournament at Victor Harbor. It was a perfect day, with still conditions making it ideal for good Volleyball!
The Year 10 Boys smashed their competition and finished 1st, only losing one match for the day! The Year 9 and 10 Girls teams were super competitive throughout the day, both finishing inside the top 4! Superstars!
The student’s behaviour was exemplary and lots of fun was had.
Thanks to Mrs. Roach, Mr. Pillay and Esme for their encouragement and support.
Student Spotlight
Year 10 student, Harry, recently played in the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships which runs over 5 days. This is Harry鈥檚 3rd year representing SA at the national beach championships. Harry and his volleyball partner last year went undefeated in the pool rounds and competed for a bronze medal, unfortunately just missing out in a 3 set tight contest and finishing 4th overall.
Training this year started early January and he has been training hard with his squad. Harry has a new partner this year who he only started playing with in competition very recently. They competed in the U18 South Australian Beach Volleyball Series Finals last weekend and won their bronze medal match, making great progress as a team. Harry and his partner then competed in the men鈥檚 South Australian Beach Volleyball Series Finals the next day in the 3 Star competition with their good form continuing and finishing 6th overall.
Harry is looking forwarding to seeing how far he and his new partner can go this year on Coolangatta Beach, then dusting himself off and preparing for the upcoming indoor winter season.

NAPLAN
Over the last week and in the coming days, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will take part in NAPLAN testing. NAPLAN provides schools and families with useful information about student progress in literacy and numeracy, and it helps us reflect on how our teaching programs are supporting student learning. It is important to remember that NAPLAN is only one indicator of progress at a point in time. At 桃子视频, we consider a wide range of evidence when understanding student learning, including classroom assessments, teacher observations and ongoing feedback. We encourage students to simply try their best and approach the assessments with a calm and positive mindset.
