Mathematics

Mathematics is a compulsory subject for students from Year 7 to 11. In Years 7 – 10 students are supported to develop their understanding of mathematical concepts, building on previous learning, under the following topics;

• Measurement and Space
• Statistics and Probability.

In the mathematics curriculum, dispositions of resilience, reflection and resourcefulness are developed and strengthened over time through a range of learning opportunities. Positive dispositions enable learners to embrace struggle, see mistakes as a natural part of learning, draw on their knowledge and skills, as well as peers and resources, and develop a reflective approach. The mathematics capabilities of fluency and flexibility, developing understanding, reasoning and problem solving are developed with and through the conceptual understandings.

In Stage 1 and 2, students choose the Mathematics subject that best suits their pathway.
