The evening was highly enjoyable for both students, families and the community as a whole.

The electric levels of festive spirit could be felt in the air, which was eventually filled with an amazing fireworks show.

We would like to thank every performer for their courage, and to all our amazing sponsors for contributing funds to enable the event to go ahead.

Until next year!

School Sport SA Beach Volleyball /school-sport-sa-beach-volleyball/ Tue, 29 Nov 2022 23:01:45 +0000 /?p=244021 On Friday the 25th of November, three girls teams competed in the School Sport SA Beach Volleyball Carnival at Victor Harbour.

The Year 9 and 10 teams played competitive volleyball all day. Our all girls, International Students team learnt a lot over the course of the day, considering the majority had never played volleyball before.

The Year 10 girls finished top in their pool and went through to the grand final. Unfortunately they were a player down in the final but played a close game against Investigator Navy, finishing 2nd over all for the day.

Even though they played with only 4 players in a 6-a-side competition, the Year 9 girls finished 3rd in their pool!

The International students were able to get a win against Aberfoyle Park.

All students had a great day playing beach volleyball.

Year 11 Outdoor Ed Camp /year-11-outdoor-ed-camp/ Mon, 12 Sep 2022 03:24:21 +0000 /?p=243748 Mr Wade’s Stage 1 Outdoor Education class enjoyed their Outdoor Education camp in Loch Luna during Week 7.

Students witnessed stunning scenery, meeting local animals and using their camping skills to enjoy time in the Riverland.

After some stunning weather, the final day saw 25mm of rain and a thunderstorm late yesterday, just as they set out for their Kayaking expedition.

The group worked together to make the most of the conditions and enjoyed their time on camp. Mother Nature sure did put on a show.

Music Instrumental Performance /music-instrumental-performance/ Wed, 17 Aug 2022 22:55:34 +0000 /?p=243445 Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a performance from our Hallett Cove Primary Band this week.

Junior School performers presented their current repertoire from the beginner and continuing bands, led by our Brass instrumental teacher Ms Asser.

The audience was introduced to the various sections of the band including woodwind (flute, clarinets and saxophones), brass (trumpets and trombones) and the rhythm section (bass guitar and percussion).

Highlights from the performance included ‘Zombie Stomp’, ‘Shark Attack’ and ‘The Batman Song’. The audience enjoyed grooving to the music and were also entertained by the senior woodwind ensemble led by Ms Pike with Sarah, Lucy and Eve performing together as an ensemble for the first time. The performance concluded with ‘C Jam Blues’ with Mr Williams guiding the rhythm section with a steady bass guitar beat.

Thank you to the dedication from the instrumental music team who continue to inspire and build the instrumental program at ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ. Many of our audience members are now looking forward to learning an instrument in the years to come.

Operation Flinders /operation-flinders/ Thu, 07 Jul 2022 00:34:34 +0000 /?p=243131 A selection of High School students recently participated in Operation Flinders, an experience designed to transform the lives of young people through quality remote outback adventure programs.

Over the course of 8 days, the group hiked 100km, carried their equipment on their backs, slept under hootchies, made dinner over the fire, overcame problem solving challenges, navigated and completed a high ropes course. The trip was physically and emotionally taxing.

Students demonstrated immense growth regarding their problem solving, teamwork, leadership, and communication abilities. The conversations held around the campfire each night highlighted the deep level of reflective thinking that the students were doing. The experience was beneficial to the students and has created lasting memories and experiences for all involved.

Thanks to Mr King, Mr Albanese, and Mr Heywood for taking the time to provide this opportunity to our students.
